Kidney Doctor Fahim Rahim Drives Home the Importance of Woman Empowerment in Sustainable Development

Fahim Rahim gives his speech on sustainable development and woman empowerment in post-disaster communities at Idaho State University's 45th annual Frank Church Symposium.

Fahim Rahim spoke on creating maintainable environments in communities that have been through natural disasters on at Idaho State University, March3, 2016. He has helped with relief efforts in his birthplace, Pakistan, after the earthquake and flooding in the last six months. He has also provided aid for refugees in France, an orphanage in Thailand, and Nepal after the earthquake April of 2015.
Rahim's goals are to create role models and community leaders among local women through the process of mentoring and stewardship; along with social empowerment with education and teaching self-worth and gender equality.


Rahim placed an emphasis on the 8 for 8 healthcare and education program and, the Community Midwives Training Program (CMW). Both of these programs bring empowerment to individual women by becoming service providers, community activists, educators, and community leaders.



 

Rahim is co-founder of not-for-profit organization, JRM Foundation for Humanity. He recently spoke at ISU's "United in Support" community rally on April 18, 2016. He will host an event focused on celebrating kindness and diversity Saturday, April 30, 2016 on the ISU quad that will strive to get Tim McGraw to come to ISU to perform his new song "Humble and Kind."
